What U Workin' With?

I feel so out of touch....

Never in a million years did I think doing an online search for the phrase, "what you working with" would turn up a song from a Trolls movie. But this cute little song was so on point, you know I had to use some of the lyrics.

I'll save that for later, but in the meantime, let's talk about you...

DO U KNOW WHAT U WORKIN' WITH?

Spiritual Gifts are a personal endowment from the Holy Spirit given at the point of authentic salvation to do the work of Heaven on the earth. They are an investment in you to operate in a way that empowers others to grow in God.

They're the answer to the purpose questions we never seem to stop asking.

We keep looking for an answer we can touch, but our purpose is not in what we can manipulate to our liking. Our purpose is found in what God created and crafted inside of us that is beyond our human capacity.

Spiritual gifts are the work of the SOUL powered by GOD'S LOVE.

Your spiritual love language.

Not the work of your mind or your hands (talent /skills).

Not even the work of your reactions (character).

They are your platform for God's presence.

When God sanctioned Moses and the children of Israel to build the Tabernacle all its divine elements, it was the platform of Spiritual Gifts that gave the work its firm foundation.

So, what you working with?

How do know something is a spiritual gift?

#1 - THE LORD chose you to gift it to.

Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,...

~Exodus 35:30

God has chosen YOU. He trusts YOU. Now, it's time to trust yourself.

#2 - Your creativity is customized by the Spirit.

... and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship. “And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.

~Exodus 35:31-35

You're not awkward. You're unique. You were made for this... literally. It's time to embrace your uniqueness

#3 - It draws resources beyond your reach.

Then Moses called Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart was stirred, to come and do the work. And they received from Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of making the sanctuary. So they continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning. Then all the craftsmen who were doing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from the work he was doing, and they spoke to Moses, saying, “The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do.

~Exodus 31:2-5

When God knows He can use you to expose His glory, be prepared to be blown away!.

#4 - You started, but God finished. He rests in your results.

Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

~Exodus 40:35-36

Operating in your Spiritual Gifts invites God in to do what you can't. It gives Him a reason to

dwell with you,

love on you,

rest with you,

show up for you.

How great is that?

#5 - The grace from the gift will outlive you.

Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would [d]go onward in all their journeys. 37 But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

~Exodus 40:36-38

Using your Spiritual Gifts creates an aftershock, an overflow in the Spirit that will be felt long after your work is done.

Your Spiritual Gift(s) is a touchstone for glory.

OWN IT.

And as they sang in the "Trolls" movie, (ahh, you thought I forgot)

It ain't about, ain't about, it ain't about what you not It ain't about, ain't about, it ain't about what you not It ain't about, ain't about, it ain't about what you not So what you working with?

I encourage you this week to add Exodus 36-40 to your quality time.

Why?

You've got to get ready!

God is about to build something special with you.

Next week, we will explore specific gifts and how God uses them to bless not only the body of Christ, but you, too!
