Blessed with Vision

TODAY'S BLESSING: GENESIS 49:13

Being Strong is Not Enough

“Issachar is a strong donkey, Lying down between two burdens; He saw that rest was good, And that the land was pleasant; He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden, And became a band of slaves.
~Genesis 49:14-15, New King James Version

Issachar and his tribe were known to be strong and intuitive. They visionaries who understood the times and the direction the kingdom should take. But like any one of us, vision didn't keep them from falling short.

A few months ago, I wrote about insight versus eyesight. Even the greatest visionary come become complacent in comfort. For those with vision, resting on our laurels can be catastrophic.

Does that means visionaries should never rest? No. It means we can't let creature comforts distract us from future glory.

Child of God, you must keep your eyes on the prize that is Christ Jesus.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
~Philippians 3:12, New International Version

To the God of Vison and Promise,

Thank you, Lord, for insight. Thank you for giving us a discerning spirit to understand truth from fiction. Now, Lord elevate our capacity to see and stay the course. Don't let small victories bring on complacency. The enemy sees it as opportunity. Help us to rise above the norm. Teach us the power of focus. Teach us how to press on for Christ's sake. In him we live, we move, we have our being. Let nothing deter us from taking hold of that which graciously took hold of us.

Bless us, oh Lord, not to settle but to soar. In Jesus' name. Amen.
