Are you the ONE?

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

~Former President Barack Obama

Are you the ONE?

Are you the ONE God has been waiting for to open the door?

To more?

To better?

To blessings?

To HIM?

Living in covenant with God means living open to His opportunities.

When we live grateful for His goodness, The God We Know comes and sups with us in sacred spaces.

When we are open to His opportunities, The God We Do NOT Know kicks His feet up in the recycler, grabs the remote, and clicks through channel after channel showing us never-before-seen scenes of His sovereignty.

He narrates true accounts of Heaven’s adversaries and victories, moving us beyond the images of The Father told to us by our mothers into an enlightened experience where we see more of Him than we ever thought possible.

Elihu makes his appeal to Job, asking him to raise the ceiling of his mind...

Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. ~Job 37:14

God wants to raise the ceiling of your mind.

But are you open to it?

Because when you are, your availability will become HIS opportunity.

You have the capacity to shift the atmosphere.... to speak against the pain in someone’s life... to lift heavy hearts and heals old wounds by the blood of Jesus.

TO USHER GOD IN.

You.

You are a VESSEL of GOD...

one through which the Spirit of God can flow, and the blood of Jesus can heal.

You just have to be open it.

Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? ~Job 38:1-2

By this time in the text, Job has vented to the point of exhaustion and his friends have frustrated him even more, but none of this conversation has prompted a heavenly response.

Why?

Because they only spoke of the God created in their minds,

unwilling to explore His “more”.

The Lord speaks only after Elihu acknowledges and appreciates His “unknown-ness”.

In Hebrew, Elihu means “My God is He, the one to be thanked and worshipped.”

It’s time to release the “Elihu” in YOU.

The following poem is an excerpt from one of the chapters in my upcoming book. Titled, “On the Periphery”, this chapter unpacks the importance of seeking the true essence of God rather than settling for the God we create in our minds.

This piece was inspired by young Elihu...

MY GOD IS HE

My God is He who has never NOT loved me, never abandoned me.

Loves me completely.

My God is He who rests, rules, and abides within me, accepting and enjoying my company. Takes me to His safe house of worship and feeds me ‘til I want no more.

My God is He who sends angels to center my spirit and minister to my feebleness.

Sitting high, He protects me. Looking low, He tends to me.

My God is He who waits patiently for me to rediscover Him, revealing over and over that the more I learn about Him the less I know about Him.

It is He for whom I burst wide open, overwhelmed, and overflowing in knowing that I’ve been more enemy to Him than family.

He gives me wisdom when I’m ready and afflictions to practice using it..

He chastens me. Encourages me. Turns me away from wrong. Keeps my pride at bay.

He preserves my soul and saves me from death by self-righteousness.

My God is He who speaks with transparency.

of those who hate me even when He Himself at times dislikes me.

My God is He

Who whispers

Who forgives

Who chastises

Who creates

Who cares

He - Calls me

He - Leads Me

He - Loves Me

He. Saves. Me.

Everyday.

All the time.

I am unworthy of Him, yet I am worthy because of Him.

My God is He

You are a vessel of God and for God.

What situation, person, moment is in need of you today?

Nothing can keep you from being the change agent Heaven desires for you to be.

Nothing but you.

Are you the ONE?
